Where Yankees’ one-time pitchers stand with call-ups coming

MOOSIC, Pa. The Yankees pitching staff will be unnecessarily stacked when August becomes September.

The roster expansion allows each team to go from 25 players to 40, with anyone on the 40-man eligible to get the promotion.

Starting pitchers who have had stints in the majors this year Chance Adams, Domingo German and Jonathan Loaisiga, along with Luis Cessa figure to make a return.

Adams has struggled since his five-inning, three-run debut against Boston, pitching to a 10.38 ERA in a pair of Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre starts. German, who felt biceps tightness in a July 26 start, is expected to return to the mound soon in his rehab. Loaisiga is pitching again and building up his arm, having thrown 1 ¹/ innings for Double-A Trenton on Friday.

Domingo Acevedo, who was promoted July 21, visited The Bronx for a game then was promptly demoted, has not pitched since leaving a July 28 game with reported upper-arm soreness. His rehab is set to begin soon.

George Kontos and Ryan Bollinger also could get summoned.

The position-player pipeline will be less busy. Luke Voit will be back, and Tyler Wade will make another trip on the Scranton-to-The Bronx shuttle and figures to be a valuable pinch runner. Since starting cold at SWB this month, Wade is 7 for ....
